Evolve carbon fibre intake- now with a video

What will be the advantage of the carbon intake over (say) one of the same design made in GRP? A few grammes in a 1450kg+ car?

I think carbon will sound better as carbon is denser and diff resonance?? Also carbon has a better thermal coefficient so less affected by heat soak

And I've got a grp bathtub....I don't want an intake made out of recycled baths

wow woots , exciting to be at the forefront of cutting edge technology, dont understand alpha tune etc etc but you only hear good things about evolve! 3k tho sounds a lot of money, what bhp increase are they expecting, any ideas yet? how much is a superchrger kit inc fitting, will eagerly await results, also hace never seen or heard a csl so that will be interesting on the M. good luck with everything :driving:

I think the e46 m3 yielded 20bhp increase and they retail those at $4200 including the tune

Alpha n tune gets rid of the mass air flow sensor, and relies in throttle position And rpm in order to determine fuel control.

Woots,

After you've had the work done, can you tell me the difference in internal volume (i.e. X litres) between the OEM air-intake system that you're deleting and the new CF airbox you're installing? Thanks.

I'll give them a call and ask buddy

I also need to measure the diameter of the afe cai pipe for you too

I've got an iron bathtub and an engine block made out of the same stuff...

That's a lot of coins for 20hp though. If I was spending I'd add another 4 for a supercharger. Bet it will sound awesome though

I hope they are doing a sweet deal for you given they are using your car as the prototype... Free ?

Thank you very much to WOOTS / Adam for dropping his lovely Z4M Roadster in to us!

The prototype air box in raw carbon ready to go in!

We will test fitting very soon but initial studying and measurements show this might just be a direct fit.

We will be dyno testing the car as it is with the AFE intake. We would have preferred a stock air box as this would give us a more fair comparison.

More pictures and updates to follow in the coming days.

What we can tell you all now is that you will require a new oil dipstick and we may need to relocate some small parts.

I've always thought the s54 should have sounded a bit more 'throttle bodied' from the factory so something that makes it more like the csl is definitely a good thing. I just hope they can eek out some reasonable gains from the setup as it will be an expensive way to make noise otherwise.

What in everyone's opinion is reasonable?

I'd expect a gain of 15-20 hp for the carbon and tune personally....

I would consider over 20hp to be decent and up to high 20s be a great gain for such a mod.

CSL is only +20 bhp, so I'd expect less than that. Or maybe I'm just being pessimistic.

One of the posts mentions a standard airbox.
I have one in the garage you can borrow if you want. In return for a bit of key personalisation if you would like to return a favour with a favour.... Going to shepshed meet if someone can pick it up.
Let me know either way

Are you still saving your euros?

I think anything over 20hp would be a miracle, a very welcomed miracle however

Now ..... To throw a spanner in the works , I really think to get any real benefit you'd need to get the csl shrick cams too....

Opinions ????
