EVO: Top 100 Drivers Cars

Evo getting the list not to everyones tastes shocker :D

Now, I'm sure they never drove the 100 cars in that table back to back, and just went from rose tinted spectacles... gonna be pretty inaccurate as anything other than a gauge of the cars the Evo team liked the most.

I'm surprised they have put a Zonda F top. I bet on most UK roads it's far from enjoyable. 996 GT3 makes sense though. Narrow body and plenty of raw NA power for the straights :D

The Porsche positions are laughable. How can the 996 GT3 be placed so high and the 996 GTS RS have no mention at all. As an event to drive and wonderful experience, it has the standard GT3 licked. And i can't believe the 993 GT2 is only placed at 65th. It's the most amazing machine. As for the 959 position, come on Evo, what are you thinking. Also, no mention of the 993 turbo or 997 GT2. Finally, the placing of the 997 c2s at 38th when the narrow body (and better to drive) standard c2 is not mentioned at all.

Maybe they shouldn't have made a list at all.

Did they even rank the 100-11 cars? Or did they just list 100 great cars?

It's hard to say, only the cars from 10 - 1 were actually judged against each other. I've read the article and can't see how they'd decide one car from the 80's gets a place in front of a car from the 60's etc.

It's a subjective list, and of course people will disagree. The only thing I can't understand is putting 2 of the same car in, eg NSX and NSX type R.

I think they have tried to rank the 100-11 cars too, although the wording of the article doesn't really confirm that 100%.

Why is the new Renaultsport Clio in there? They didn't even seem that impressed with it from the review.

Also, I'm assuming the veyron and such like are low down on the list because in terms of a drivers car they are difficult on our rubbish roads.....but then there is a Zonda top...right.

I'm sure Renault bung EVO a few quid as they seem to think that every Renault is the best thing since slice bread and that a R26 can keep up with Supercars on B roads.

I'm a big fan of EVO but that table is rubbish.
Agreed.

Peugeot 106 Rallye > Z4M :scratchhead:
Hmm.. definitely not the case but the Rallye mk1 is one of my favourite drives ever, certainly my favourite FWD car to date. God, I don't think I've ever been in a car that let me plant it in any direction possible round an island  :driving: 8)

Seems this feature has really stirred up debate judging by some of the forum threads out there, our in-box has been buzzing this the issue arrived with subscribers too so I thought I'd try and shed some light as to how the list was compiled in the first place.
First off, each of the ten judges taking part were asked to send in a list of their top twenty drivers cars, numbered 1 to 20. This could only include production cars built between 1959-2009.
Once these results were in we could then compile the final list of winning cars and set about sourcing the top ten to take part in the road test to decide the winner.

...

I'm sure this debate will continue to roll but that's the nature of these things. You can never produce a definitive list as we all like different things in our cars.
One thing I can assure you is no car was discounted because it was unavailable on the day. If we can get a Muria SV to drive with the LP670 SV, or a Veyron to go head to head with a GT-R, then we wouldn't of had any problems sourcing any of the cars in this list. Sorry Barry.

What's a "drivers car" anyway ?
What surprises me the most, is the presence of both NSX and ITR, but no sign of the S2K.

TBH, I agree with that one, well not the NSX part as i've never driven one lol. But the ITR is brilliant to drive, whereas the S2k is really good, but not as special.

I still miss my old S2k :(

Some very odd choices on this list... 2 NSX's no Z4M, no S2k?

And as for the order they are in... were they on drugs or something???
