Ever had one of those moments when you realize damn I shouldn't have done that?

FYI: The diable airbags key switch does not keep the car from throwing the Airbag Warning Light if you disconnect the seatbelt wiring! :tumbleweed:

Distracted by emails on my phone after pulling up at home in front my garage, jumped out the car to open it, had left the car in Drive, the car then drove into the garage door. Managed to stop it going all the way in, the car was mostly ok, but the door was fecked and cost me £500 to replace. Oh, and it was the second time I'd done it, first time it just kissed the door gently resulting in minor bendage of the bottom. What a tw@t

I did similar many moons ago. I had an automatic ford escort that I had just booked in for an MOT. So needing to check a few things I backed it down the side of the house until the rear doors were just down the side but I could still open the drivers door which was in front of the house. I got out of the car and for some reason that escapes me now decided to blip the throttle. Problem was I had left the car in reverse gear. As a result the car went back, and the open door pinned my arm to the front of the house. I was stuck as I couldn't reach anything. Lucky mrs hutch was around, but never driven an auto so I had to carmly explain what to do. Luckily I wasn't hurt, the door was bent to buggery and the car would have been written off if I had claimed, but it was only worth £500 quid or so, so a big hammer fixed the dent. :D

You can see why old biddies drive through houses and swimming pools in autos

definitely. The jag was an auto too. Shouldn't be driving around in the wet with the tc off in a 400 bhp 2 ton rear wheel drive auto lol

Hopefully lesson learnt to turn the engine off before vacating the car

Just set your doors to lock/unlock via Intravee so you're unlikely to ever get out without selecting park again.

Or get a remote door!

Remote door was another £500...

I was getting out the car to open the garage... And I have an intravee, head was somewhere else so didn't even think about having to pull the handle twice. Every time I pull up I now look at the dash and the gear stick to check its in park :-)

I'm with you lot

Drove the 5 series bumper into a high pavement at the same time as saying 'that pavement looks high'. Idiot!

:headbang:

LOL Blue, I'm with you, sort of like looking at something and saying that looks hot, then having to turn around and say yep it sure is hot lol

I had a very big moment a few years back.
Car was an e46 SMG M3, driving home I went over a screw and got a puncture in the o/s rear. Stopped the car, removed screw, pumped the gunge in, drove for about a mile. Stopped again pumped to pressure, headed home.... All ok so far.
As usual got home and reversed into my driveway, opened the drivers door and had a look out to see if the tyre still looked ok, couldn't really see, probably should have got out of the car at this point to look really, but I decided to keep trying to see from the drivers seat, so pushed my foot down to let me lean out the car a little further. This is the problem bit, smg was still in reverse and I used the accelerater pedal for a bit of extra purchase to look out the car. Turns out M3's are fairly quick and powerful in reverse if foot is placed firmly to the floor. Before I knew what was happening car had screamed backwards, into my house, ripped most of the n/s rear wing off, snapped the driveshaft, and a bit of light scuffing to the house brickwork. About 3.5k damage in about 6ft.
Didn't want to go anywhere near the insurance company, paid cash to get it repaired. Fantastic repair job, no sign of my handy work at all. Had it about a further 3 months, but psychologically just needed it gone.
I've definitely had better days

LMAO Timz, reminds me of a story in my early years.

One of my good friends that had a crush on one of my cousins and he wanted me to set him up with her. So I talked to her and we setup this double date.

My friend drove his mom's brand new Town Car and the evening went off perfect until the end. We dropped off my date, and then he takes me home. This is where the trouble starts, as he is backing out of my Mom 's & Dad's driveway he backs into a ditch.

My Dad is already in bed and my Mom tells me I better go give him a push out of the ditch before he wakes up Dad. Now as much as I tried I couldn't push him out by myself and my thinking was that my cousin grew up of a farm, surely she had driven a tractor or something. So we put her behind the steering wheel and both my friend and myself push the car out, which works great, the car is out of the ditch and coasting across the driveway.

Then it happened. My friend and I are standing there watching as the cars back wheels start spinning and rockets forward into a marble table my Dad had built for cookouts which was reinforced with 6" steal channel. The top of the table few off ramming into the house and the channel pretty much took out the engine of the brand new Town Car. Waking my Dad, who ran outside in his briefs to find out in his words "What the F_ck is going on!"

Lol very exciting night after that lol.
