Eventuri VAI Carbon Intake Kit for the Z4M details

I like the look of this product but I would also wonder how it compares to the Gruppe M, not in price but everything else
This will be a tall order as the likelihood of an independent tester having/owning both intakes is slim to none. Of course, if Evolve did such test and post such data, then those cynical comments would emerge again :fuelfire:

For an owner like myself, I could not justified the cost of a dyno comparison (even for stock vs eventuri) for the minimum HP gain of an intake. My butt-dyno would have to do for now :driving:

Might drop them a line. I'd be interested... although it would self destruct my £££ difference between the two kits if this is better than the Gruppe M... I can just see the FS ad now!

"Hi, Gruppe M, selling because a cheaper kit is better... £600?"

evolve, can I just ask directly do this kit offer any additional benefits in comparison to the gruppe M? since this is your main competitor on the z4m platform at least , what are the benefits of this kit over the gruppe M??

Oh Really, well i can assure its genuine.I have been looking at the forum for a few months but never really had the inclination to post anything. This was my first mod to the car apart from cosmetic ones (i have an RPI GT arriving this week too). Apologizes if it comes across suspicious but i thought just give credit where its due and i am happy with my purchase. Not a regular forum poster so i am unaware of any regulations there may be on mentioning products. But you are as ever entitled to your opinion...

n11koh, I wouldn't worry about it, please don't take offence - people are naturally sceptical of new products that are relatively untested, especially when (even modest) performance gains are mentioned. So much snake oil around... To be honest if it sounds as good as people say I'd get it for that alone, if I had the cash. That and how it looks

As for regulations, there's nothing formal... Though there's an unspoken rule that newbies introduce themselves, their car and stick a few pics up. Especially when they would include tasty mods :D

I think it was more to do with it being the first post more than the product.

Get some pictures up though n11koh :poke:

Okay will do a post in the intro with pics when i get my RPI on, hopefully tomorrow.... Yes i can see how it may look like a product plug in hindsight! I will be careful what i say about my exhaust.... :D

Aye, I did apologise in advance! I'm not in the 'I don't have this mod therefore I'm cynical' camp, I was cynical because it smacked of suspicion and a foul plug! But if you're a genuine guy/girl then welcome, there'll be a few of us interested in your info on the intake, me included :happyclap:

Echo the points made above - by no means intended to offend, but did look a little too obvious! To do a U-turn, welcome to the club and look forward to seeing pictures!!

This is a question we have been asked a few times now and here is the difference:

The Gruppe M system is the same type of intake design as found in most aftermarket intakes. By that I mean they use a cone filter mated to the MAF tube and the carbon fibre is just a heat shield surrounding the cone. In this configuration - the airflow has to negotiate a path from the large diameter at the base of the filter through to the smaller diameter of the MAF tube in a relatively short distance. This is not great for aerodynamic efficiency as you will get dead spots and some turbulent effects.

The Eventuri is a new type of intake design which is patent pending and this is why: We use a cone filter - BUT here it is inverted and decoupled from the MAF tube. The filter is now mated to the front of the carbon housing and by inverting it we are capturing maximum surface area for incoming airflow. Now, the carbon housing is not merely a heat shield - it shapes the flow smoothly down to the MAF tube over the entire distance of the housing. This means that we keep laminar conditions through the path into the MAF tube which is a lot more efficient. On the road - this translates not only to more power but smoother delivery and a sharper throttle response.

That's the main difference between the Eventuri and other systems. Plus for the Z4 kit - we have also used an additional heat shield to stop hot air from the radiator from entering the intake as well as a cold air scoop to direct cold air directly into the filter which actually keeps IAT's lower than the sealed stock airbox.

Hope that helps clarify things. :)

Sounds very impressive.

Any news on the open day?

Will be in March - we will arrange the day and confirm with you guys.

As a GruppeM owner, I am very much up for this. March is only a few weeks away so please provide plenty of time...!

Would be good to hear the GruppeM and this at the same time.

Be sure to do some sound bites comparing both

Will do

For me the Gruppe M was all about the sound as performance for an induction kit is negligible from what I've seen in any case.

In terms of sound comparison though, I've laid the gauntlet down with my Gruppe video so let's get a decent vid of a one of these next to the Gruppe to compare :)

Yes I agree - most intakes give negligible gains - until now for the reasons above:)

Sound is an important benefit although we consider that to be a bonus over the improvement in power and response which the Eventuri delivers.

Open day has been confirmed : Saturday 28th March. 9am to 12.30pm

Hope to see you all there!!
