Eventuri/Evolve CSL set up

Hi all, I purchased the above from the sale of the various Z4M bits on the for sale section and very happy indeed!

Steve (Srhutch), very kindly came with me and helped removed the carbon dash, so thanks Steve, really appreciate it!

Now onto installation - it’s been recommended that I get Evolve to remap using the Alpha N Tune, but someone else recommended I use a different remap service from J F Automotive - https://jfautomotive.co.uk/tuning-parts/?vehicleid=LK56GXD

Evolve said I had all the bits apart from the ‘air shut off valve’, but I’m wondering if you use the existing one that comes as standard?

Also, what do you guys think in terms of re-mapping this system, anybody had previous experience?

Many thanks

Speak to Martyn @ Ecuworx imo. I've had a few tunes from him, he's done a load with the E46 M3s, as well as supercharged and DCT-swapped a Z4m before selling it so 123z4 on here. I'd been discussing carbon airbox maps with him previously (I'm gutted as I was eyeing up this one up but you got there before me!) - he'd be able to sort you out no problem

EDIT:
Martyn's SC DCT Z4 thread:
https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=138219

and his old M3 off M3 Cutters:

https://forums.m3cutters.co.uk/threads/martyns-phoenix-yellow-e46-m3.235704/

Made healthy figures (374bhp) with Schrick Cams and an airbox..!!

Ive just sat and read this.
Hat off to the man.
What was surprising is that the CSL air box made no more power than the Eventuri.
I was going to bite the bullet this year and fit one after removing my Eventuri. Not sure what to do now.

It all boils down to whether you genuinely think that 7hp sacrifice is worth it for the noise.

Also what a dyno graph doesn't tell you is how it drives - I've heard the mapping with the airboxes makes for a smoother drive, although that could be the airbox brigade making themselves feel better for spending thousands on a 'performance' upgrade that doesn't do the numbers

Could have sworn I bought it :D

Cheers Taz, I was told today that a dedicated remap should increase the output by 15-20hp, and the box itself will definitely improve the ride + sound :driving:
I’ll be interested in the results once fitted on either a Alpha N tune or dedicated remap by Martyn.
Time will tell

Hi Ed, thanks for this info, I’ll definitely contact Martyn!
I got a couple of bits from Russell, but such a shame to see a beautiful example of a Z4MC with some amazing upgrades be written off!

Let me know how you get on.
Martin is only about 3 miles away from me.

Wow, what an interesting read on Martyn’s endeavours, the guy’s a genius, thanks for the link Ed!
I’ve sent him an email, so hopefully we’ll touch base soon.

Nice box, just have a good look inside, and make sure the resin is solid and secure. There was a guy across the pond who had issues with the Evolve csl box as it came apart inside and bits went inside his engine and caused a DNF. and yes, you can use the old air valve.

Wow, thanks Vanne, I’ll check it out!
Thanks for the advice, and good news regarding old air valve

Ok, a bit of an update…
I emailed Martyn from Ecuworx, but unfortunately haven’t heard back. I know his work is in demand, so understand he may be too busy.
The box has yet to be installed, so I’d like this to be done as part of the package.
I could get Evolve to do the remap for me, which will be the Alpha N tune, and JF Automotive have also said they can remap using their package.
I’m based in East Sussex and wondered if anyone had any thoughts or suggestions to try?

I personally wouldn't get an evolve tune. They'll just be generic.

Id hang on for Martyn or look at somewhere like Severn tuning which I think was recommended above

Hi Ed, thanks for the advice 👍🏼

I mean if you really want my advice I think you should give up and sell the airbox to me

I have a karbonius airbox in my z4m, the airbox is pretty much the same as evolve.

i went with a certain tuner and while the power was amazing, it wasnt driving very smooth at lower rpms. So i decided to go with Evolve for the alpha-n tune and it was night and day difference. I'm not exaggerating, the car drove better than stock, it was just perfect, never stalled once, perfect idle in hot or cold temps. It developed great power, won against every other s54 car from 100-250kmh :driving: and they all had an airbox and alpha-n. One bonus thing is the car consumed less gas after the evolve tune than ever before.

I highly recommend Evolve, also they sent the modified tuning file in less than 24 hours.
