Event cars

I was reading recently on here of someone who has an F-type Jag and described it as an "event car"; ie every outing is an event. It got me thinking; that's what I want, an event car.

What car would you like as an "event car"? A car which you could be excited about driving every time you got in it without it becoming just another car once familiarity bedded in?

I already have my "event car" my 05 z4. Yes it is 15 years old (but then am old also  ). It is not my daily so just occasional nice weekend ride. Yes I could have posted a lambo, McLaren, New Vette, Porsche etc but if owned I probable would have a shorter life. At my age the 05 z4 is at the top of what I can handle. But just my personal opinion and in no way mean to disrespect any other car or a persons choice.

I took my M Coupe for a drive earlier and like every other time I've driven it it felt like an event!

Admittedly I've only had it 16 months and done barely 2,500 miles, but I can't see that "event" feeling fading.

This should keep most people interested

I thought you had already bought your event car, did you not buy a focus?
Yes I did. It's great, thanks for your input.

Was it the RS?

For me an "event car" would need to be something filthy, like a big fk off V8, or a screaming V10 or a I6 with a turbo the size of a small hatch back that can communicate to birds and suck in trees

Dodge Charger 1969 that sounds like its cutting out

LFA or M6/M5 the screams

After 2 years of ownership my z4 coupe felt special always getting into it.

My Clio 182 felt exciting in 2017 but no where near as exciting as the 172 did back in the early 200's - I think it's because the average motor car "caught up" with it 15 years later.

My C63 is a riot every time I get into it. A screaming V8 with all the sound and drama that you could want (and more besides).

I love all those cars but I wouldn't say any of them became normal or "bedded in".

But if I had to define an event car it would have to have the following:
-2 (or less seats)
-Rear wheel drive
-Low production numbers
-Stupid power (we are talking sub 4 seconds to 60)
-Petrol
-Hard to drive (possibly no traction control, not very "nanny".)

I would rule out super cars (as realistically they are unattainable to me) so I would say something like a:
-r8 (v10 only)
-AMG GT
-Lotus Exige
-Any TVR
-Noble m12

I would imagine that a c63 or a m3 would give you the best of both worlds really.

100% onboard with this list!
The R8 is an excellent car to drive but the Exige would be the more involved with the Noble being a step up in sheer raw connection again :driving:

Would love an Exige. I will get one at some point. I am always looking at them.

Exige would be great - loved the Elise and that was a piddling 135bhp but was great to drive :D

I think it would have to be:
A V8 of some description; for the noise and the drama, or
An Aston for the "James Bond" feeling (and the V8 or even V12), or
A TVR for the looks (and the noise)
Admittedly there are the exotica but they are out of my realistic price range, so discounted these.

Depends on whether you are alone or accompanied.

Alone, the Z4MC or the Solstice GXP coupe do it for me.
Accompanied by SWMBO, this works better (mine = same colour, but LHD).
