 About time we started introducing rules more sternly for EU drivers over here then! starting with them fitting light beam reflectors!!!

Can't see if it says with immediate effect ?
Bad timing as i depart from Dieppe next Thurs 5am for a 120 mile "exploration" of the TT's rev range & check the speedo works the whole way around the clock :driving: :D
They do give you a sporting chance in France though as you get a speed camera sign on the roadside telling you of the camera 300/500 yards ahead  most helpful

Before May 2017, so I guess it will be ok until end of 2016.

when you back Andy?..Fancy the catch up Sunday 01/03/2015 at the Turnpike?

Just change your plates after you've got off the ferry/train - one letter different should do it and could be easily explained as an error should you be physically stopped.

Hope their cameras are forward facing and have decent resolution, otherwise it's going to make identifying the driver a bit an issue on a shared drive European jaunt

Those last points seem the legal issue as the European law is that they fine the car, not the driver.

In the UK, not sure how that is going to work.

I like that thinking but wouldn't like to be caught by the port police with a spare set of plates that are slightly mismatched :? those guys only need a sniff of foul play & your vehicle is in bits right before your eyes :o
You could have a roll of black 10mm insulation tape that could make a 0 into 8  or similar
Or failing that a set of Srhutch's plates will work a treat :D

^^^ This! on a car, it is closer than the van that keeps pretending to be him. At least the numberplate is getting to see some daylight on that van :poke:

Would your licence be endorsed, or just have to pay the fine?? :?

I have been stopped at the roadside doing 90kmh in a 60km zone & was relieved of 90 euros cash there & then from the Gendarme , no receipt just a tongue lashing on a picnic table set up next to the road then a wave of the hand & i was off , not even asked for my licence, insurance or passport :?

In mainland Europe, the fines are part of the recognised government income - none of that nonsense about road safety which it isn't anyway.

Very good value though for 50% over the limit

My last one was 15 Euro for being 20 km over the limit in NL few years back.

i don't see any problem in this. why is it acceptable for us to break the law just because its a different country? the 6 items listed in the article were far from difficult to understand and most are the same here?

Probably will result in UK targeted speed traps, like on any road to Calais.

Nothing more relaxing then driving in Europe that when you get to your hotel at night and you have not been stopped, you have no worries coming towards you in the post. All part of the holiday 8)

Ok read that from start to finish, Didn't understand a word of it. Any one care to translate that to motorist speak. :)

- Camera in Europe goes Click Click
- Invoice request sent to DVLA
- Those nice people at the DVLA send a new invoice (with additional admin charge no doubt) to you in the post
- You = registered keeper, they don't give a hoot who was driving.

European tax collection in other words.
