Yup.
The new Euro Law grants Euro cops to chase up UK citizens for unpaid fines, but not the other way round... we will pay for speeding over there, while they will not if they speed here! There’s talk of Europe employing UK debt collectors to collect the fines... the DVLA never used to interact with European countries regarding fines etc..but with these new EU directives issued, I think it’s all been scuppered. It’s a joke, it really is.
On another note, if you do get stopped for being a bit of a tool, never give your passport, say it’s in the hotel/bar/the dog ate it. It’s an offence not to carry it upon your person, but if you hand it over, you’re screwed for getting back home if you don’t pay up. (A lot of local cops in small towns in some EU countries are bent as a two bob note) smile politely and hand them you DL instead and take it on the chin and go to the cash machine.
