Euro entry requirements

After missing Euro holidays for the last two summers I have taken a gamble and booked our accommodation in the Netherlands and Germany during August this year.

I have just been trying to check the current entry requirements, but it’s as clear as mud on the UK. Gov web site

I realise things will probably change by then but I’d like to adapt to the changes rather than start from scratch.

Has anyone made the trip recently please and what documentation was (currently) required?

The good lady, her aunt and our son are in Switzerland at the moment Ron, was a nightmare sorting visa's but mainly because my son had covid when his first jab was due so it messed the whole system up. As far as the adults go it's not bad actually, she's back later this week so I can get the requirements if you want. A usual it was France that were the worst, once they're happy-ish you're good to go. Speak later if it'll be of use to you.

 thank you!
We are sailing to Ijmuiden (Amsterdam) and spending time in both the Netherlands and Germany.

We are both 3x Jabbed and have been fortunate to have been Clovid free

we've take a punt on driving to france in April, since last time we left the country was January 2020 :( as i understand it, if you're double jabbed theres no requirement at all to test before travelling to the UK, or after arrival.

And currently i understand that travel to france is a test before, but no test on arrival. hopefully, france will sack off the test before travel as well for double jabbed people, then there will be no tests at all, which would be nice!

though, obviously, every european country is different.... hopefully by august all testing, whether vaccinated or not, will be binned off. since the virus has been widespread now all over europe for 2 years now, really don't see what testing at the border really achieves any more.

I’m going to Spain next week, I’ve had to go on the Spanish government’s web site are download the SpTH app, then fill in name, Passport number, flight number and date of travel, this can only be done 48hrs before travelling, then they check your details, covid jabs etc and then send a QR code to show your good to travel, I presume Holland and Germany will have a similar scheme, you’ll need to check each country’s requirements.

so you dont have to test to go to spain, as long as you're double jabbed? that could well change where we go next!

The coronavirus section of the bbc news site has an 'explainer' article that is constantly maintained which describes all the rules for popular destinations... but doesn't have details for The Netherlands or other Scandinavian countries :|

For most central EU countries see https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/coronavirus and scroll past the first few news items to find it.

They just updated the Ukraine details.
All you need now is an AK47 and a belligerent attitude.

I look at Holland a few weeks ago and as you say clear as mud - it looked like you need 2 jabs and to still isolate for 10 days on arrival when I looked at the Dutch Govs website - so who knows and I am sure it has changed since then :headbang:

Stubborn belligerence is in their DNA

I can cancel, cost free of course, all the way until 4th July so my options remain open.

Were doing Monte Carlo in April, and as of now im pretty sure its triple jabbed with Antigen to get into France

Went to France at the end of October. Had to be double jabbed at the time (not sure about booster now). Did not had to take a test to go there, only had to get a PCR in the first 48hrs once back in the UK which coincidentally has been replaced by an LFT only 2 days after the 48hrs period so I had to pay £60 "just because I came back two days early" :headbang:

You can also register your jabs in the French covid app so you have easy access to everywhere, once again not sure if things have changed regarding that since.

That sounds very much like the standard requirements for most of the world. We have recently returned from Dubai and Maldives and the process was the same for each. Download the local App, fill in the details and prove your fully vaccinated then you get a QR code. We only had to show passports and the QR code from then, no other paperwork as you don't get the QR code until you have filled in all the App.

Bit of a pain at first but makes it easy when actually travelling.

Enjoy your escape

Just got back from NL, so all you need is a French covid test. I bought mine as a self test online from C19 at £18. Good price, good service.

France is the only pain. They blocked the motorway from Belgium into France to perform checks. No check for me as I have a Dutch passport and NL is green for them.

You need the UK sticker now instead of GB, just keep that in mind (I have neither by the way).

If vaccinated then no quarantine in NL. Janssen (or Johnson and Johnson ) vaccination not valid in France (nor anywhere else for that matter) and you need two boosters of the other types to make it valid. You should be ok as long as you had Pfizer or even AZ with a Pfizer or other booster.

There are no checks in NL, but facemasks still required at the moment. Will be gone by July no doubt.

I don’t use a British passport when in Europe so can’t vouch for delays and extra searches for that as with my EU passport I don’t get stopped.

Other things changed are day and night speed limits in NL, so check the time …

Thanks, we can’t wait, it’s for a relative’s 50th birthday and will be a dry run(some how I don’t think so 🍺🍺🍺) for our summer holiday in Greece that’s been postponed for the last couple of years.
