Okay so I was about to order a set of plates for another car and had a question or two. With Brexit and all that faf what would seem the best thing to do? EU stars no longer relevant? Just plain plates? :?

Just go with plain plates, I haven’t had plates with the EU/GB symbol for years. Nor have I ever bothered with the ENG plate either. These plates aren’t a legal requirement and therefore why bother with them, I think plain plates are cheaper to buy.

As you still need to have a regular GB sticker on your car to travel in Europe I couldn’t see the benefit of these plates - just stick with plain ones.

I'm sure the GB on the reg plates count as a legit mandatory country of origin, so an additional GB sticker isn't req'd.

That"s the one

I think I will stick with plain plates. Looks tidier. Also allows me to be flexible so if I plan to go abroad then all I need to do is stick a GB sticker to the boot. One of those magnetic ones so I can remove it with ease afterwards 8)

Yes I'm sure on my searches you can use existing EU style plates, has the GB identifier so you can identify the vehicles country of origin. However I've seen a lot of people stick a Union Jack Flag (or St George Cross, etc.) ontop of the European circle of stars.

Kind of like this:

I always hated the Euro plates over here. My old car came with them on so got plain instead.

I have just got a Euro sticker for the number plate so I don’t have to stick a gb sticker on the zed’s paint.

Can’t wait till Friday :driving: :D

Clearly there's no point in getting EU plates now.

Getting a Union Jack is a bit doubtful with the Scots talking about leaving the U.K.

The St George's cross is what's left! :)

I got a magnetic one... Does the trick and then it's off again. No hassle no fuss
