we need a proper debate, no arguing and bickering just genuine facts for and against

currently i'm in the leave camp

Need an undecided vote for the minute, and then do another later on nearer June.

I'm not sure, would like to say leave, but not sure of the downsides yet.

Im for staying in, if we leave could well be the end of Great Britain as the Scottish will want a second referendum and they will vote for independence from us to allow them to stay in Europe, will be a right mess

i believe we pay £20 billion and get £14 billion back in subsidies etc. so it cost us £6 billion a year. where does that money go and how do we benefit from it

i think an enormous proportion of the money dissapears in Brussels where the eurocrats swim around on the gravy train counting their pensions
regards

We need to look after our own instead of shipping billions abroad to help out those who the EU say we should support.

1 example - I look at the horrendous flooding in Cumbria and Scotland and not 1 penny of support came into the UK from anywhere as far as I'm aware and yet we have families/business' etc....... simply torn apart, not by war or oppression I know but still for most involved, a life changing disaster that we've had to foot the bill for on our tod.

As for the thousands of penniless immigrants coming in because the EU support their well being, well, enough is enough for me.

I have no idea of the wider impact of leaving the EU but currently being in it and funding it does jack all for us.

This whole Scottish referendum thing is an interesting one. I thought it was a one shot deal, yet here we are a couple of years later and a second vote is being discussed. Surely we cant keep having votes till the yes campaign get a victory. Even if the first vote was yes, would the Scots even want to go it alone currently, given the oil sectors current woes. If we got a yes would the no campaign be clambering for fresh vote a few years down the line from that.

I also wonder what would happen if the folks of England were given the opportunity to go it alone and leave the UK as Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland would we. When the English see Scotland getting free prescriptions/education etc that is subsided by English taxes you have to think given the chance they would pull the plug so to speak.
In deed would Northern Ireland and Wales also like to go solo? Maybe even Cornwall as well?!

Not in any particular camp myself, but you do wonder where things could lead.

I am with Boris, so It's an out for me, the UK will still trade with Europe. The French will still continue to sell us their wine which we will continue to buy, the German will still sell us their cars. I also doubt very much if either Lidl or Aldi will be shutting up shop and leaving the UK in a hurry. Things will continue on, except this time the UK will be back in control of our destiny, so bring it on!

I think the poll needs wording better. Is it what one would vote or the likely outcome?

Wind forward to June and the outcome is we will remain in, no sensible long term alternative once the romantic notions of separation are stripped away.

No EU, no empire, no former colonies support these days and a distant US = reduced trading partners, corporates move, jobs move country, etc, deficits sky rocket = less viable economy and resulting decline.
Just a bigger version of why Scotland's still 'in' and wil remain so.

Just an opinion.

Anyone with a Holiday/Retirement pad in the likes of France. Spain etc worried what an out vote would do in terms of being able to stay in your home longer term? I'm not an Economist and have to admit this is my main worry!

It was a good idea at the time to bring about a united Europe after the war but I think its time we became an island again.

Tim.

I'm an out. Always have been.

The thing for me is around all these rules/regulations etc enforced on us by Brussels and I don't believe for a second that they won't try to back out of current said deal within a year if things aren't looking so good.

I think this is a huge part of the issue, before my time but I believe when folks voted on a united Europe back in the day they were voting on an trading agreement between western european countries. Not this massive all encompassing "the EU one big country, one big happy family" that stretches as far as the Russian boarder and the middle east

The British public were never asked our opinion on that!

we traded with the Commonwealth pre Eurozone.........time we did it again , I dont see Australia going through a slump like the UK did and still is doing

And being part of The Eurozone isnt doing anything for our steel industry so whats the benefit?

They would probably just apply for a visa, after all they would be contributing to the countries economy and would certainly not be a drain on it. The country would be stupid to deny a visa as the British are a big part of the Spanish and french holiday scene
