Estoril Blue 3 Series Cabrio Offer?

I like it and if the deal is good enough why not, its a nice car, still miss my 118d, torquey and refined at speed and I would imagine not that bad in 2.0 guise with the roof down.

Tim.
The 4 pot diesel is dreadful on tickover though & not a great powerplant in my mind & I am not anti diesel by any means, the 6 pot diesel is cracking engine for a oil burner & I've been lucky (or unlucky) to have experienced both powerplants & the 6 pot is nice & smooth but both sound terrible with the window down or when stood outside next to the car so I wouldn't imagine there is much joy to be had with the roof off.

It's noisy but I wouldn't go as far as dreadful and once on the move you hardly notice it. If you do the mileage hard to ignore but I think for Maniac if you only do short trips not a wise buy in diesel guise. Only problem I had was the dpf not regenerating other than that was pleased with the derv.

Agree if doing lots of miles the 4pot diesel without doubt makes sense it offers very cheap VED & very good economy & inside the car it's very hard to tell it's derv but I was disappointed by its harshness on start up & at idle & the 6 pot was in my experience a much more likeable unit.

My heart still lies with petrol though but I do appreciate the low down slug of a diesel it's just a wave of smile inducing torque.

Agree Lee, the two 118ds I had were OK and bearable but my biggest worry with the N47 engines was chain failure hence why I went back to petrol although the N20 in the E89 is pretty poor when cold and not a patch on the relatively simple M43 in the Z3. KInda why I probably going to try a Jap car again and decide whether to keep the Z4 once the PCP up. I think the past few years BMW have let slip in the quality of its products, its all cost cutting.

Right well I've missed my appointment to look at this after an already hectic morning so I'm giving it a miss as tbh I'm realising I'm looking at it only for the sake of two extra seats and I'm not giving up the 35i just for that. If I go new car it won't be a top brand as they've only disappointed me for the money vs quality so I think I'll look at getting a lesser possibly Japanese brand ala Tim, something simple but with guts as a runabout and keep the Z as I don't think ill ever be able to part with it.

Wise move imo , the 2.0d i found disappointing & the 330d although a menace to drive after its remap wasn,t frugal enough to warrant purchase over the much nicer petrol engines ,
The 320d/520d are for the milemunching rep-men & just are,nt special enough for a car enthusiast longterm

Thats a shame, would have been interested to see what deal they would do on the Cabrio.

Well I'm saving the pennies from now until Feb and will take a Swift Sport for a test drive and place an order for the new reg. I've been looking at a range of sensible jap cars but I think the Suzuki will cover most requirements and still be a fun motor to drive around town, short trips etc. Will be hard to sell the Z3 but the time has come to think about replacing it :(
