Esso Synergy Supreme+ 99 vs Shell V-Power vs Tesco Momentum 99?

I was speaking to a former CSL owner, (now Ferrari owner) the other day and the topic of fuel cropped up into conversation.

In particular he told me that he has been using Synergy Supreme+ 99, a new premium fuel which Esso released late last year.

In sum it is: 99 octane, ethanol free*, contains double detergent additives & a friction modifier, and is produced by ExxonMobil.

In reg to price at the pump it is about 1 pence per litre less than Shell V-Power.**

Has anyone tried this fuel? If so, I would be interested in knowing your thoughts on how it compares to the likes of Shell V-Power and Tesco’s Momentum 99.

More info can be found here: https://www.esso.co.uk/en-gb/fuels/petrol

*except, due to technical supply reasons, in Devon, Cornwall, the Teesside area, Scotland and NW England.
**from comparing prices at my local pumps.

Yes I noticed this when I filled my Audi TT MK 1 up this morning and thought I would try it out, can’t say I’ve noticed any difference yet as I’ve only done about ten miles since I filled up but it cannot do any harm!

Going to look out and try some of that in the TR6 Ethanol free would be a bonus, in that a lot of the seals in the fuel unit don’t like it.

This done rounds and rounds and rounds in the Japanese turbo scene years ago, the consensus at the time was that Tesco 99 was just as good as V-power based of dyno performance and lab testing, suspect the esso stuff will be the same

I suspect you're right, it won't show much difference, however one big plus point for classic car owners is if it truly is ethanol-free.
My old friends in the Capri world are already noticing seals degrading in carburettors and mechanical pumps and the more ethanol that gets added to fuels the worse it will get.
This new stuff could potentially save a lot of the classic boys a lot of money.
