OK I have e-mailed Todd. I've also asked for the ECU removal instructions, but if you could post them here (or in the HowTo section) for everyone's benefit that would be useful.

Carl

Did Todd take care of you ?

yes you can this is the euro location address.

ESS Performance Products A/S
Rive

Norway

Very interested.... This surely isn't the best way to import to Europe... Norway is the 2nd most expensive country in Europe.

Direct, even with import tax has to be the best route no?

Simpson Motorsport is the Uk authorised distributor and installer for ESS products, give them a call on 01594841299 and ask for Anthony or Julian.

Yes, I got a reply but I'm not in a position to do anything about it for the next two weeks -- Todd is aware of that.

You will need to work thru Todd for software if you want the GB deal. For any other ESS products you can work thru dealers.

I'm confused now. There shouldn't be an issue with VAT and import duty as effectively you're getting back your own ECU returned from repair. Those of us in Europe -- should we ship to Norway or the USA? What's the European price, because we don't pay in dollars?

Can they work on an exchange basis, i.e. I pay for new ECU+software, install in car, send back old ECU and get a refund? I can't be without an ECU in my car for weeks on end.

If you are in the UK you should ship to the Norway location. Just make sure you mark the package " repair " to avoid taxes. They cant do a exchange because they need your file from your car to start the process. They need one day to do the flash and it is on its way back to you the next. Turn around is very quick. Just make sure if you are going to order the software and you are in europe to email [email protected] for payment and to get everything setup that way when your ECU arrives they have your file waiting. As far as the exchange rate on price just email todd tell him you are doing the group buy that Roman set up and he will take care of your payment info.

That's interesting, the way Simpsons do it is to download your standard ECU map, email it to ESS, Hans at ESS modifies it to the ESS version and emails it back to Simpsons, Simpsons download it into your ECU. Job done!

Correction Simpsons has to upload your stock file ... This requires them to have your ECU in there person. The question was asked if ESS could just modify a new ECU and mail it to the customer with a core return, this would not work because they need your cars info to start the process. If a customer went to Simpsons shop they could do all the work for the customer correct.

That's what I said, Simpsons download your standard ECU map. I suppose I shouldn't have assumed that everyone knows you need the ECU to download it's map.

Now that sounds a lot easier than posting the ECU. What if it got lost in the post :(

 Not sure what they would charge for the software you might want to call them. If they can do it for the GB price then it would be the best way to go. The price I was allowed to promote it for does not include any dealer mark up.

I'll be over at Simpson's tomorrow ( it's my second home! ) so I'll ask Anthony about it and let you know.

OK, I've just been speaking to Anthony at Simpsons. You can either take the car to him and have the software installed the same day or post your ECU to him and he will do a same day turn around. You do not need to send the ECU to Norway! UK price is usualy £400 + VAT. When I get the exact figure I'll let you know.

OK, 400+VAT doesn't sound too bad but any improvement on it would be welcome.
