ESS Tune

Hi All,

I have pretty much secured my 35i with the dealer this morning, so time to start thinking about the mods :D

First up will be an ESS tune...I tried to do a search but couldn't find much into about it on the forum, any members on here running the ESS Stage 2 flash ?

Thanks

Bhav

You know of course that the moment you do it, you invalidate the warranty on any impacted components of course (so you remap it, blow a hole in a piston and its your wallet to repair it). I do believe SocketR has done this with his car (remapped it, not blown something). Its something I've considered, but the N54 doesn't have the best reliability record so I'll be leaving burned pistons, blown turbos etc to those with deeper pockets. 306bhp is enough for me for now...

Thanks Manic, I am not overly fussed on the warranty side of things, this is a car I want to have some fun with and as its a weekend car I doubt it will see more then 2 or 3k miles a year...I will shoot SocketR a pm to get more details of where he got the hand held from

Haha...now if in theory I was interested in buying a tune...would there be an individual in the UK I could purchase from or will this be from ESS directly in the US?

Just seen this thread! Bhav how are you? So you have bitten the bullet and got an E89?

I think Beedub who has a stage 2 ESS kit for his M got it from CA Automotive - so they should be able to sort out the E89.

Did SocketR px his car when he got his M? maybe at a dealer nearby!!

:worthless: :P

I'll be around next weekend... i'll give you a shout when i am about.

I have decided to hold of on the remap for now because it struggles to put the power down as standard. I'm looking to change the tyres, suspension, brakes and fit Quaife LSD first. The extra power can wait until later.

You maybe should wait until you drive it and decide for yourself before ordering ant tuning.

I agree on the Quaife... I'm considering this too.
I think it is probably the first thing i'm going to do, then the tyres when I've finished ripping them. Taking it to Cadwell Park next week and I'll decide what to do first after that but probably the Quaife.

I started a thread on here a while back to find out if anyone has fitted a Quaife LSD to a 35i and about the Run-flats. I had a test drive in a 2.0 version a few weeks ago with the M-sport, adaptive suspension and 19" wheels and found the tires where a bit hard. I think my Z4M with coil-overs and Conti 5P soaked up the bumps better on a normal road. Have to say the run-flats reminded me of my previous Conti 3's I use to have on my Z4M. Very hard tires.

Would be very interested in finding out how the Quaife LSD changed the feel of the Z4 e89 and reduced the DSC light flicker.

Cesela - Thanks...I will have a look around their site and give them a call once the car arrives next week

bmwZ - where about is Norway are you ? I spent a fair amount of time in Oslo for work...lovely city and women...shame its so damn expensive!

With regards to an LSD...yes that would be a good mod, I will probably start with decent set of non-RFT's and some suspension tweeks

I live in a City called "Skien" 1,5 hours south of Oslo. But I work in Oslo. So you went to Oslo for business or vacation?
