Evening all!
Finally put my calipers back together tonight after a little renovation (you might be able to spot what I did in the picture...). One spring went on easy, the other was a pig but both on and seemed settled.

Took her out for a spin :driving: and I hear a tinkling noise (was only going slow)...pulled over being very gentle on the brakes to find this!

I knew it went on too easy! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

How hard are these to get hold of? Will any BMW dealer have them in stock? How vital is it? Am I a complete twit?

I think I probably already know the answer to the last one......

Ahhh cool. No need to worry then. I'll chase them up in the morning.

Thanks for the offer Kermit. I need to be on the road tomorrow but if I struggle then I'll PM you to talk postage.

No damage to the wheel Tom. Had a good mooch around and no marks. Think it just came loose and flew out of there. :-( Spent 30 mins trying to find the bugger on the A141. Not an experience I want to repeat!

I wondered why yours looked so shiney in those pics Zermatt. Thought you'd just painted them too!

Looks like way too much copper-slip grease on the rear of those pads, you honestly only need a thin smear on the surface where it actually contacts the caliper. Too much and it can spread to where you really don't want it and it will collect grit and muck.
I've seen someone with chromed springs on here before so they are obviously available and look good

Just ordered 2 new clips to be on the safe side. Murketts BMW in Huntingdon, really helpful and good service.

Thanks for the help all! Will put the part number on this thread so that if anyone searches they can find them easily.
The fronts have their own part number - 34112227670
Different from the rears.

Ewazix - Yeah I got a little carried away with the copper grease.... I've wiped a fair bit away since the pic was taken. They were a pain to get off to start with so kinda went too far the other way.

Agreed. In particular, you really, really, really don't want it getting between the pad and the disk!
