folks, I have reached out to ECU testing and their customer service unit and received some odd responses. I inquired about the size of the box to ship the EPS motor and they came back with their standard dimensions box for the e85 motor is 31.5" x 33" x28.5" and a weight of 22 lbs which is huge compared to the actual motor dimensions. They also recommended DHL for shipping as that is what they use and the on line DHL calculator using the weight, DHL quoted $2,943...... which is crazy. Has anyone actually sent in their motor for rebuild and what size box and approximately what did you pay for shipping? I'm in Utah, so anyone on the west coast would give me a close estimate. I had also checked out ECU Mavrick in Florida and they have recently nearly doubled their prices. Anyone's input is welcome!

Are you sure you’re not confusing inches and CM’s ?

I did have to ship parts from Florida for a engine 3 yrs ago, the parts cost £70 the total cost was £210, buying from EU is better but don’t be surprised if you get a bill for shipping and VAT 3 months later, Importing is expensive these days.

enuff-zed, who has much experience with these units, should be along soon to give you his comments. Regarding a possible solution, I am happy to receive the item here in the UK to send it on to ECU testing on your behalf, they charge only £20 to return to UK address, and then ship it back to you.

I recently sent a Box from UK to USA (Cornelius NC ) Size 970 mm x 400 mm x 200 mm weight 5 kg . This was sent with UPS and cost £71.00. Posted on the 20th April ....arrived at the door in USA on the 23rd April .
As you can see see this for a comparison ........ the motor is fairly heavy, but should not cost an extortionate amount as the box is smaller and International postage is costed on volume . Best get it in a secure wrapped parcel and inquire with UPS.

If at all possible, consider converting it to hydraulic steering. It transforms the steering feel and pretty much all bolts up using BMW parts.
