EPS making it's own inputs 60mph+

Afternoon all, after replacing wishbone bushes to my SI I've now got a bizarre problem of the electronic power steering making it's own inputs on the wheel beyond 60mph.

This absolutely wasn't happening at all before the bush change and is a new problem.

I've checked to make sure the bushes are installed correctly which they are, the steering below that feels brilliant now with turn in etc been vastly improved. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

have you had an alignment after replacing the bushes?

No not yet, would that cause the issue?
almost certainly, even if the new angles are a touch uneven, it can make the car track like a pig.

I’d get booked in for a laser alignment ( I like places that use Hunter systems) and that should sort it out.

It tallies up with you only really noticing it at speed too

Ace got it booked in tomorrow for an alignment check, it's been lowered on H&R springs before the bushes so i'm sure their going to have fun getting it on the ramp.

It might be worth having a think RE settings now you’re booked in.

I pulled the pins that limit how much negative camber you can get, loosened the top mounts and slid the struts inboard before asking the tech for max camber at the front. Ideally I’d like a little more as our cars do like a bit of understeer.

With your lowering springs fitted you probably won’t be able to get much less than max rear neg camber.

A fair few on here like to go for the ///M settings - mainly to tame the rear camber I believe.

Whatever you go for you’ll be making the most of those bushes and track dead straight :)

So after some expert advice from Silverzedtom  , I've had the car aligned, it was all over the place, the toe on the front meant the wheels were pointing outwards, the rear toe was pointing to the left on both wheels and I had 3.4 degrees of camber on the rear wheels :|, I thought on the drive home the problem seemed to have been fixed however bang on 70mph it starts again, granted not as bad but it's still there however it appears to have a slight vibration through the wheel as well.

Doing a bit of research I fitted the meyle HD bushes and reading up on them now it appears as if they're solid bushes opposed to oil filled like the OEM ones. Other forum users seem to have had the same issue after fitting these and 9/10 of them fixed the problem though wheel balancing as even 4g out of balance appeared to be causing issues with these.

The other thing worth mentioning is having the car up too speed (100+) the problem stops and the car drives absolutely straight.

Any more input would be appreciated after that the only thing I could think that would help is having the steering angle sensors calibrated.

I assume for such an old post I may not get an answer, but I will give it a try. I just bought a 2.5Si of 2006-02 that has the same problem: between around 110-130KM/H the steering just wanders a bit, feels like lane assist (but the car doesnt move). Below and above this speed its fine. Did you ever fix your problem?
