EPS - Fixed but now have 2 other issues before MOT

So my EPS failed for the second time 2 years ago and I had it booked in to be taken out and then sent away for remanufacturing (first time I bought a second hand unit before I knew they could be remanufactured my mistake) and then lockdown happened on the day it was booked in and I was going to take it to the garage and the mechanic messaged me at 6am to say not to bother he was closing and don't know when he would open again. I tried calling him a few times and no answer even after several months had passed and I think he ended up just closing the business down. He was a one man band and he only had regular customers. He was great experienced but obviously covid was too much for him and probably retired now, he was cheap too. So after it sitting there for so long battery died obviously and could not be reconditioned as it had died a few times previously too. Car was doing like 1-2K miles per year so needed charging often and I would forget or be to busy/lazy to do it. Car ended up sitting on driveway for 2 years doing nothing because of the EPS issue and me working from home and using the wifes car majority of the time.

I got EPS remanufactured and a new battery. Due for MOT today and mechanic comes to pick it up and it won't shift at all (automatic) and the front end is extremely low and hitting speed bumps. Springs are shot and most likely need the "top strut" done as well is what mechanic said but I assume he means shock absorbers.

So I have 2 issues;

Front springs and shock absorbers - I think mine has the M sport suspension but how do I confirm this? Every vin decoder isn't working and the ones that are send me an error. My VIN is got a dealer to look it up for me and send screenshots. it has m sport suspension. I don't care about someone stealing it as it shows on the car. I will delete it from here after a month if nobody can decode it just in case.

What are the recommended go to springs and struts? Because they seem very expensive. Rear springs are fine had them done about 4 years back.

Second issue is the automatic gearbox won't shift for some reason. When pressing the brake you can feel one of the locks disengage from the shift lever. The mechanic managed to open the top off and pull a thing up and then it shifts no bother. But then you cannot get the key out the ignition until you pop it back down again I think from what he was showing me. So the gearbox does work it's just the lock won't disengage to let me move gears.

Any ideas on the second issue? Clearly the relay between the gearbox and the ignition works as you cannot get the key out until you pop the thing down again. So it has to be the third lock or a fuse or relay? I had to change a relay before for the wipers.

Anyone know what fuses and relays for the automatic gearbox and shift lock are?

Hi there, just so you don't think you're being ignored, I currently have two autos and have not experienced that with either of them.
Is it possible that it's the gear knob itself that is the problem? Maybe when you press the button it isn't operating the box selector correctly?

It's locked there is a little pin moved by a solenoid. Basically magnets which moves the lock. There is actually 3 locks. Brake lock, ignition lock and shift lock. The brake lock disengages because when you press the brakes you can feel something move in the gear stick. The ignition lock works because when you move the lock manually you cannot get the key out of the ignition until you drop the pin down again.

It's the shift lock the third lock which isn't functioning for whatever reason.

My mechanic said he will get to the bottom of it. I have to check fuses 9 and 42. But I may as well check them all while I'm at it.
