EPS don't work '03 Z4 2.5i

Hi, after replacing the steering rack and the lower joint on my '03 Z4 2.5i my electronic power steering stop working and its light came on. :headbang:

I had problems when removing the old lower joint. It was rusted all over. And when removing I turned many times the steering column and i heard some cracking plastic (i'm sure it was plastic!). :headbang: I Thought that there is no limit in steering when it's disconnected from the steering rack.

What should I focus on?

I guess the plastic thing i heard breaking was this little pin...




 
After reading this i think it could be a internal sensors’ connecting harness i heard breaking. http://www.bmwclub.lv/files/06_E85_Chassis_Dynamics.001.pdf
Any suggestions? The whole steering column is very expensive to replace... :|
