I had to learn all that the hard way back in 1998 when I got a job with a US-domiciled insurance company.

We would often have to write reports that would have an audience in the UK and the US so would always try to phrase things to work for both - but sometimes you just had to put the other option in parentheses!

Doesn't work. I typed in a few phrases that any proper scoucer would understand and it had not the slightest clue what I was trying to say..

Doesn'tt even know what a barrel bellied diddy man is ffs. Let alone a gigger rabbit

Jarks! :? I'll be a week googlin' the translation here mate.

Googling the definition makes me head hurt. One silly explanation leads to another and on and on it spirals down the jigger rabbit hole.

Barrel bellied, pretty obvious I hope.

Diddy man. A short guy, usually wearing a cap. Many worked down the Jam butty mines in knotty Ash.

Barrel bellied diddy man. A short fat guy. :D

A jigger is the name for the narrow alley ways, that run around the back of old housing.

Jigger rabbit.. An Alley cat.

Simples.
