Engine Number

Hi, this might sound like a very obvious question, but does anyone know where exactly i can find the engine number.

UK owners... is it listed on the MOT cert, thanks in advance

Sorry, i don't have the log book with me at the moment, it's at home and i won't be at home for a few days, thanks for the reply... anyone else know if it is on the MOT or where exactly i can find it on the car

Is the engine no different to the chassis no?

My MOT just has the Vehicle ID/Chassis no on it...

If you need it urgently and haven't got the car with you, can you phone the dealer and get the number from the reg number? (that's if the dealer knows you I guess).

Sorry for the confusion... i have the car with me but i do not have the log book with me... do you know where it is located under the hood

On mine the chassis no is on the right hand side wheel arch. There is also a plaque on the right hand edge of the engine bay near where the windscreen meets the bonnet...

Chassis number is also at the base of the windscreen...

no idea whether this is same as engine number though.

I need it for an export form. I brought my z4 in from the UK... has anyone any idea where i could find it (apart from the log book) thanks again

The log book lists both the "VIN/Chassis/Frame No." and the "Engine Number" separately on the first page.
The VIN is listed on the MOT certificate but the engine number is *not*.

Don't have my Z4 yet so can't help locating it in the engine bay - sorry.
