Hey guys i have a 2006 2.5 si with 72k on the clock. Love everything about it but recently i am gettting a weird noise what seems to be coming from oil filter housing? When i start the engine from cold all is well, After a few mins the whilst reving up slowly @ 1500rpm ish there is a quiet grumbling noise cant tell where from and a loud whining noise from the oil filter. I had an engine flush and new oil/filter which solved the problem for a few weeks but now its back. I have recorded it and posted it on Youtube please have a listen and let me know your thoughts, Do you think i should take to dealer or local Specialist?

I will keep track of posts and update any progress thanks guys.

It's doesn't sound good whatever it is. To me your issue is more to do with a auxiliary drive belt or bearing issue but could easily be wrong.

Just had a look on youtube as srhutch, to me its more a bearing noise than an internal engine noise. just call in a dealer or indi and ask what they think. Good Luck hope you get it sorted.

Gone to Bmw specialist "parkside motors Worksop" this morning thinks it might be an oil pressure problem.. Ill keep you informed thx guys

Hey
As it turns out the new oil filter had clogged up with black gunk (probably from the engine flush) the filter had collapsed and the noise was oil passing the filter, New filter fitted and alls well, Recommended new oil n filter in 4 weeks. Thanks guys now i gotta change in indicator switch on the missus's Merc, Wish me good luck.
