hi all..
another newb question,

what's the diff between turbo and supercharger?
i know most turbo mods are done for japanese cars...

thanks!

Here's a great link that answered my questions. http://auto.howstuffworks.com/question122.htm

As I promised, I'm going to keep bugging everyone until someone installs the ESS supercharger and tells me about it. Someone pleeeaasse do it!!! :headbang: ...where's a link to the the superchargers they make. There are different options for 2.2, 2.5 and 3.0 L engines. http://www.esstuning.com/default.asp?c= ... &viewID=93

Cost me around £550 to have my ESS Twin Screw stage two fitted. Maybe around £400 for the stage 1. But then again I only pay £40 an hour at my local BMW independent garage, no London rates up here.

Send me $6,000 and I'll be MORE than happy to tell you all about it. I'll even include before/during/after photos and video at no extra charge.

what does this mean "Horsepower: 315 DIN (Stock 192)" ?
an increase frmo 192 to 315??
what's DIN btw?

Sure, according to the web site that's the price of the cheaper unit. I didn't think you'd go for the higher priced one. LOL
How do you like your exhaust? I love the sound of mine.

ESS Z4 3.0i M54 TS1 6.5PSI Supercharger System (115-21) USD 5 995 / EUR 4 255

I believe you misunderstood my joke. I was going to buy one from ESS and install it with the money. Unfortunately I don't have a sound link of my exhaust. Good luck in your search.

The ESS exhaust is stunning. I had a Milltek previously but had to sell it as it drones badly. It matches my supercharger nicely, pops and farts on the overrun, deep enough to hide the supercharger whine, but not too loud. Stunning!!

"DIN" is the measurement standard they used to test horsepower. There are several that differ slightly. http://neptune.spacebears.com/opine/horsepwr.html

Also keep in mind that they have a new exhaust on the system. This adds 7hp. So it's from 192hp to 308hp (in the 2.5i)...which is HUGE!!!

how much is the labor for installing this thing?

they say it's an 8-10 hour installation plus you have to send in you ECU. So it's pricey if you use $100/hr that the dealers charge here.

This may be a dumb newbie question, but...
I have the 3.0i, it is possible to fit the twin-turbos from the new 335i?
I would imagine that the internals have been beefed up quite a bit to handle the extra power, not to mention the complete exhaust system. By the time you finished upgrading to handle the turbos, you may have well just went out to by a car with it :)

one of my newb questin hasnt been answered.
is it possible to install turbo in my Z?
i like the sound when u drive a car with turbo
sounds cool~

1 more thing,
after i install this supercharger, it will brake my warranty right?
what kind of warranty will void because of this?

I've been looking and haven't seen any turbo's. It's just a lot more complex than supercharger as it has to intergrate into the exhaust. Plus, you'll notice most factory stuff is twin turbo. I'm thinking they do the smaller twins since they can spin up faster then one larger one. So having 2 is another complication. Just go with the supercharger!! :-)

But it will void the warranty...but only on associated parts! So if you have the supercharger installed and the power roof breaks, it's still warrantied as the supercharger can't cause a power roof to fail. But if your clutch, engine, tranny goes...you're SOL. I'm waiting until next year after my warranty expires to install the supercharger.
