Engine misfiring + EML + Oil sensor light

Hi all,

Started up my 3.0L E85 and during the first 10 seconds of idle the car seemed to vibrate and shake for a few seconds, followed by EML light coming on. Drove home fine and checked the codes, this is what was shown:

I cleared the codes and the EML went off. Started car and seemed fine, just parked it in the garage.

I also get an occasional oil level light which seems to clear itself on a restart. This is after changing it recently with an OEM part in response to an oil level sensor error found by the reader, although before I changed the sensor I never got an oil level light.

Car has had the coil packs changed in the last year or so.

Looking to get the VANOS and oil filter housing gasket changed soon, but don’t think that would solve my problems. Any ideas please?

So no lean codes indicating an air leak.
Every cylinder misfiring so suggests a common link.
Vanos unlikely to be the issue. You would have codes for cam angle I suspect. Been there.
The common things are DME and MAF.
Have you ever cleaned the idle control valve?
Disconnect the MAF and see if it makes a difference.
Get the ICV out and clean it so it rattles freely when you tip it.
Have you put any different fuel in it lately?
 
Good ideas from enuff_zed, also check you have no signs of oil in the spark plug wells from gasket failing. I also get an orange oil light sometimes after starting, I did change the sensor in the sump but still get the light sometimes. I have a dipstick on the 2.5 so keep an eye on that. I do have another sensor in the garage for changing when I do the next oil change.

Nope, using V Power as usual.

It is strange why the oil level sensor light comes on, sometimes even after changing for a new one.

Will report back.
 
Hi all,

So I cleaned the idle control valve (ICV) which took a while to loosen and pull out and power delivery seems smoother, no issues with idle or error codes since.

Definitely needed cleaning and it was a good opportunity to learn about the intake components and DISA.
