Hi everyone, since I’m not interested to sell the car i
d like to know what I have to do engine/mechanical parts.

Except oil service and filters obviously.

My car is a 2.2 litres e85 from 2004 with 150k km

Any suggestions at welcome.

Thanks everyone in advance

You usually either fix thing as they break, or take a look at the average lifespan of suspension parts and replace before they break and leave you stranded somewhere.

If none of these have been replaced yet, than at 150k km I assume you're suspension will be past it's best as may need replacing (springs, dampers, bushes), battery, cooling system refresh (water pump, belts, hoses, radiator checks), etc.

How far you go is entirely up to you, and how much value you put on maintaining a relatively low-value car.

Thank you for the reply.

Here in Italy. Every two years(free the first 4 year) we must do legal review. They check some mechanical components, like suspensions light tires glass exhaust brakes. So I assume this parts are ok.
Probably not efficient like new but they still work fine.

My question is specific for engine. I see services belt are not good seems look very old. Surely this is the first item to change. I know this engine use distribution chain. I heard This one don’t need to replace before 300k ? Is this true?

Other part very important to check?

Regards

If the cam-chain starts to wear excessively you'll probably hear it long before it breaks!

If the auxiliary rubber belt looks old and cracked I'd get a new one on before it failed, as you don't want a couple of metres of rubber belt flying around in the engine bay!

It's worth keeping an eye on the cooling system as radiators often bow at the bottom and expansion tanks are known to split.

I think otherwise it's just a question of replacing anything that breaks - these engines are generally pretty bullet-proof.

Tanks, when I replace rubber auxiliary belt I check also the cooling system components.

Best regards

Alessandro
