Engine Management Light on & Off

I have had my Z4 one month & 1 week & during the first month the engine management light came on the wasn't a problem because the car came with 1 Months warrantee.
After taking the car back to the garage I was told it was the oxy sensor & told to book it in and it would get sorted.
This was then replaced and all ok until Friday just gone when the light came on again?
I used it on Saturday (went to get winter tyres fitted from a garage I use) I told the mechanic about the problem and he said they would have to do a smoke test on the manifold?
On the way home on Saturday I stopped at the cafe & when I got back in the car the light was off, it stayed off when using the car on Saturday, Sunday and this Morning on the way to work.
After work on my return home the lights come back on again :(
I have to do a round trip of 200mile on Wednesday for work (motorway) should I be concerned?

Anybody else had this problem

I have exactly the same problem. Mine seems to come on on a very long journey or when i have been throwing it about a bit. mine has been on for the last few days. went off on Sunday and is still off now after about 100 miles.

Have had mine the same length of time as you but mine came with a 12 month warranty so im not to fussed at the minute. I never feel any difference in performance though, is yours the same?
 
Am I right in thinking if you don't get this fixed it will melt the catalytic converter & what is the fix?

Well with no joy & the light not going out it's booked into the garage tomorrow to get it sorted...

Well dropped the z off at the garage this morning & picked it up after work & the light is OFF :)
They couldn't find any faults and cleaned the cat with catalytic converter cleaner.

I was told if it comes on again it may be a faulty cat :( but will have to wait & see.

Fingers crossed it stays off...
