Engine Lights (and Codes)

Hi guys,

I have two engine lights on intermittently. The EML light comes on and goes off randomly, but often comes on if i accelerate in 2nd going up hill or 3rd gear.

I got the kit off eBay and read the codes, I get 2 errors when both lights are on.

They are 2D07 and 2CF8.

Heres the output from the computer:

Can't seem to find the part listed anywhere on the net though? I'm anxious to get it changed and sorted as the engine has recently gone into "limp home" mode twice, although this is got rid of by switching off and on again.

Any help much appreciated guys.

Can't see the read out as it's too small........ and cant find the 'fault' codes from the BMW list either.

are pointing at a dodgy connection on the engine wiring loom

Thanks guys, got the codes and the meaning is sort of displayed on the output.

What do you recommend I change? Got a friendly mechanic who can help, but where do I buy a throttle valve pot? Can't seem to find parts anywhere online....

Hi guys,

Lots of searching but.

Anyone know if this will fit? I know its for the Z4M but it really is the best I can find.

This one is more than double the price:

But I've seen conversation elsewhere discussing them being interchangeable.

Kind regards

The second one looks to be for a pedal assembly -- wrong throttle!

If you can find a part on your throttle that looks very similar, might be worth a go, but I'm sceptical. Looking on realoem.com, it rather looks like it's integral to the throttle assembly. Hard to believe, but that's what it LOOKS like. I don't know any more than that. All I'm really saying is be careful. And check all the wiring connections first!

Hi guys,

Sorry for late post, but thanks for all the replies.

For info if anyone gets the same it was the throttle sensor but that is integral to the throttle body so must be replaced as a whole.

Got one off eBay for £35 and had family mechanic fit it. Perfect, problem solved.

Kind regards

Neil
