engine light

Hi guys

as you can see newbie here,happy with the car,but when I started the car this evening on the way home,it doesn't sound right and sounds like is mis-firing and the engine light is on.any ideas what is this for?the only thing I can think of is I got some petrol yesterday,might be because of that?not the right grade?

if you can help me out.

can you explain?have had the car just a week! the car is used and bought from dealer,under the new scheme has 2 years warranty.would that cover the coil pack?
 
yes coil packs would be covered, there is one on each spark plug and it's a fairly common problem. My enegine light cam on the other week but it was an O2 sensor but the only indication I had of a problem was the light.

Get it back to BMW and they will sort for you. :wink:
 
will call them in the morning and see what happens,thanks.

it won't cause any damage driving it as it is?as the nearest dealer is about 22 miles away.
