Just back from 3 weeks offshore and first run out and the orange engine light is on AGAIN!,also the reversing sensors
have gone on the fritz.Luckily my used approved warranty is valid till the 24th of this month, but have taken out the full warranty with £250 excess.
Car is booked in for the 26th so will see what happens.
Was wondering if leaving the car unused for 3 weeks at a time was doing any harm to the car?,always warm her up nice and gentlty and no reving till she is up to temp.

As far as i am aware the battery is ok,the car starts no problem after sitting for 3 weeks also through the winter had it plugged into
my ctek charger on maintenance charge.
I have had the car since 24th april last year and about 5 weeks into ownership it threw up a engine light, the dealers replaced one of the 02 sensors.
The one thing i did notice when i was out today was a slight hesitancy/cough when reved from tickover.
I am sure the dealers will sort it.

I store my Zed in my garage for 2 to 3 months at a time with battery tender attached, no problems at all. I don’t think inactivity is a problem within reason. Maybe not for a year or two. :)

My yellow engine management light came on last week with no apparent symptoms until the next morning when I started her up the revs were erratic and a low end hesitancy when revved. I checked the fault code myself and it was P2626 which relates to the bank 1 sensor 1 pre cat lambda sensor.

I was quite low on fuel at the time and it may have been Tesco 99 that was in it... (cant remember as i hadn't used the car for 3 weeks). I filled up with the normal VPower and cleared the code. I still had slightly erratic idling at first, but 1 weeks later - all back to normal... :?

I read somewhere that the sensors can sometimes become dirty, maybe from contaminated or low fuel etc. I would recommend a full tank of good stuff and a bit of gentle right foot persuasion! Seems to have whipped mine into shape for the mean time anyway!

What's happened to your reversing sensors? Mine went silent a while back and i needed a new loudspeaker under warranty.

Thats sounds like a plan. The car was sitting with just under half a tank of normal fuel,i tend to alternate between normal and super.
Will go and fill it with some vpower and then give it an italian tune up    .

The reversing sensors are just giving off a solid beep when i engage reverse, probably a dodgy sensor.
TO be honest i am not ar$ed the stealers can fix it.

Update,
Car was in on tuesday morning, got call at lunch time to say parking sensor needs ordered but engine light was down to faulty connection in lamda sensor.
Went to pick up car drove it 300 yards and low and behold engine light back on.
Well as you can imagine i was less than impressed, but to be honest it is no worse than the service i usually get from Harry Fairbairn of Irvine.
To cut a long story short the car is back in again tomorrow for the parking sensor and further investigation into the engine light.
Hope to god they get there finger out as i really cant be ar$ed with having to keep going back and forth for a very simple fault. If only another dealer was closer i wouldnt have to use these idiots.

I had something similar, the light kept coming on. They tried replacing an O2 sensor but ended up admitting the cat was gone. Luckily they replaced it under warranty.

2ND UPDATE.
1st someone please correct me if i seem to be expecting too much from Harry Fairbairns.
Took car in this morning at 8am was told i would be phoned when car is ready.Wait till near enough 4 o'clock and have to phone the dealer too see what is going on,service dept is busy so will call me back,40 mins later no call.Phone them back and demand to speak to someone, after 10 mins on hold i am told that the reversing sensor is replaced but they now need to replace lambda sensor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.FFS!!!.Went to collect car and spoke to service manager who gave the usual we are very sorry blah blah blah.So car is now booked in for Wednesday,3 visits to the dealer to repair a reversing sensor and a lambda sensor, complete and utter SH!TE SERVICE FROM HARRY FAIRBAIRN OF IRVINE.
I asked them the other day if they were going to order a new lambda sensor but was assured that the sensor tested ok,obviously they were talking p!sh as they are now saying it is knackered.I seriously need to find a decent BMW dealer as i have serious doubts about using these clowns to service the car.
Also i really hope someone fro BMW reads this and fires a rocket up Fairbairns ar$e.

OK rant over   :headbang:

Roll on wednesday
