Sorry to ask this question since there is been so many post's on this subject, that I have tried to sort, My zed is an 03 with 32,500 miles-------

Just had all services, oil, filters, coolant flush, brake fluid all changed by my BMW dealer 1-month ago-

Now the check engine soon light just came on, I have checked gas cap, my fuel tank is 3/4 full, tried shutting off engine and light comes on after ignition-

So what is your best guess what the problem might be, I appreciate any feedback!

Thanks guys-
Bob

It could be many things ... without reading out the diagnostic code there is no real way to tell. Over the years (on various cars), I have had check engine lights come on for problems ranging from a broken O2 sensor wire to a failure in the engine control itself. You'll either need to acquire a tool to read out the code (Ship has posted some info on this) or take it back to the dealer.

My O2 sensors haven't failed, but I had the light for my secondary air pump.

Just returned from a long visit from my BMW dealer to fix problem, The diag. said electrical/emissions, After they replaced the relay switch to the
vacum pump, they still had a problem, after waiting 2-hours, tech found that the vacum pump was defective! They did not have the part in stock, :( so they special ordered it. Total bill with labor 503.00, I have the extended warranty so it will cost me just my deductible 75.00
Murphy's law, I am on travel Tuesday, So I had to leave my car at the dealer awaiting part. I just hate leaving my car, I reminded them that I am very particular with my car, so please park it so it will not get dented :!:

Wanted to let you know something else I did not mention and makes sense now---2-days ago I was leaving work and after I started the car a smelled a nasty odor, I thought it was from outside, 2-days later Service Engine Soon came on. The technician told me that when the Vacum pump died, the odor came from it :!: :!:
