Hi all, sitting at traffic light this evening, engine sounded a little rough, drove off and engine light came on. Only 2 miles from home so kept going. Got home, light still on and engine still a little rough. Very slight misfire. Haven’t had chance to look at it yet but any ideas please. Mike.

Coil, plug, camshaft sensor, air leak?

Get those codes 👍🏻
Thank you enuff_zed will do. Been a bit caught up with my son being stuck in a Japan airport all night. He should have been here now but hasn’t left yet.
Edit: found the problem, big air leak in top of engine, forgot to put the oil filler cap back on when I checked the oil level yesterday, :headbang: lucky me it was hiding down behind the engine. Stupid or what!!!

You will need to reset to clear the fault. Get yourself a creator code reader then you can clear light

Managed to remove it, not sure how but it’s gone. My oil level sensor has been playing up and that’s what started this with me checking the oil. :D Thank you both

Went for a drive around the block to warm up the engine and the light stays off, however I now have clutch judder/flutter on starting off. I can’t get a smooth lift off. Clutch?

Was any oil slung around the engine compartiment? Driving without the cap usually results in rather a lot of oil being flung about

No, which is nice as I gave it a nice clean up a while ago. I did that with one of my MGs years ago and the engine compartment was covered. However, when I returned home before I turned the engine of I gently revved up to about 4500 and it was smooth and then let it drop off. Turned off and left it. Went back to see how it was an hour later and to my surprise it works okay and is back to normal again, went for a careful drive, all fine. What the hell.
