Engine Judder

Just bought a 2003 2.5 Z4 with only 22000 miles on the clock but I have come up against a problem I hope you guys may know something about.
On acceleration from low speed the car in juddering/ coughing before it picks up. It does not happen everytime and when it gets going it runs fine. It also sounds and feels fine at idle. It only happens on hard or moderate acceleration and on a couple of times the engine management light has illuminated, but goes offf if I turn the engine off. Its going for diagnostics tomorrow but I just wondered if anyone has come against this problem or can give me some ideas.

Cheers lads

What kind of tires are on it now. I've had similar symptoms with my snow tires. Basically the car would overpower them and then it would shudder with the traction light... Some times the light would go on and sometime it wouldn't.

Additionally, give this a read. Probably not the case, but good info. http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3600

Cheers lads, would a faulty coil pack only affect the car on acceleration?
When it cruises or runs at idle, it runs really smooth, but accelerate slightly hard and thats when the problem occurs. The other funny thing is that it does not occur everytime you accelerate slightly hard but most times.
I know it will get sorted tomorrow but in the meantime it is just niggling me.
Had to wash and polish it to take my mind off not being able to drive it.

Cheers lads
