Engine Falters when accelerator blips

I am looking to buy a Z4. Have spotted a 3.0L that I like but I noticed that from idle if I depress the accelerator reasonably fast the engine falters/hesitates. You can hear an injestion of air, but it takes what appears to be an age for the engine to catch up. I have tried other 3.0L and they appear to respond much faster (virtually instantaeously).

I noticed it after the engine had been running at idle for 3-5 minutes ie the fast idle had dropped from 1200 rpm to around 900rpm.

I like the car but I am reluctant to buy without some idea what it could be.

Does anyone have any suggestions, what it could be.

I'm with Mike, sounds like weak running-the inlet elbow on these cars is prone to splitting where a smaller finger splits off from the main hose. Fiddly but diy able.

Had same issue on my 3 with blip, MAF cleaned simple diy issue resolved, not discounting air / vacuum leaks around inlet. I have current issue with PCV so know it's not related. Idle should be smooth without that fault, about 850 rpm once cosey warm. Good luck with the purchase..
