For about two weeks, my engine would just shut off by itself at low speeds for example when I was coming to a stop at traffic lights or slow turns. During cold start there seemed to be some misfiring. Also, I felt like my upshifts became very jerky unless I did the shifts above 3500rpm.
Turns out it was because my battery was not holding a good charge anymore. Just wanted to put it out here in case someone else gets the same symptoms and can't figure out why.
Btw it was an original BMW battery that had been on the car since Nov 2011. Pretty impressive lifespan
