Engine doesnt start first time on occassions (now fixed)

This has just started happening for me :thumbsdown:

Usually when the car is warm (like at a garage), turn off car, fill up.... return to car and put keys in, lights etc come on and it turns over, but no ignition. Try again a second time and it starts first time straight away.
 
Hummm - i sometimes find that rather than not turning over - i try to turn it over but its dead, nothing - yet lights come on etc. I think its related to some combo of footbrake or handbrake being/not being applied - but never managed to isolate it. maybe its an actual related issue to this?
