Engine didn’t want to turn off?

Hey All,
Today when parking I pressed the start/stop button to kill the motor and the RPM dipped briefly, but the motor kept running!

I pressed it another 2 times and same result.

I tried a long press (maybe a second) and the motor finally stopped.

Basic Googling was not effective in producing anything relevant…

Anyone had this before or know the reason?

Has it happened since? Can you monitor your car in real time? Do you have the tools/apps to do so? I'd suggest seeing if the car acknowledges your request to shut off. Does it show the ingnition button being pressed and a subsequent request to cut ignition and fuel delivery? I must admit, I don't know the series of events that follow the button press...

I guess it probably does try given the RPM dip, but then wonder if an error is returned by the car when it tries to be doesn't.
 
Thanks for the reply. At the time I was going to the supermarket and wasn't able to plug in a scan tool. Hasn't happened since. Weird!
