Engine Dead - HELP!!!

Hopefully someone can help me, went to start the car yesterday, the dash lights came on, when I turned the key nothing happened :(

When I went to turn the key again, none of the dash lights came on except the mileage and radio, none of the warning lights that normally come on were illuminated.

Therefore the journey home was on the back of a recovery lorry :( The battery is fully charged, the breakdown technican tried starting it from a battery booster and made no difference, lights work as do all the other electrics.

I took a look at the fuses for the ignition circuit and they were ok, I have tried a battery reset (disconnect battery for 30mins & reconnect) and still nothing.

Anyone experience or know of similar problems?

Anyone know of a good indy near to Farnborough, Hants (hopefully a mobile one)?

:) :) :) :)

It's fixed!! :)

Had a local Indy come out yesterday, 3 hours later and she's running sweet as ever, it was a faulty ignition switch with dirty contacts, all cleaned up and working normally.

I can highly recommend Alan Cleary on 07973 121929, he's a mobile mechanic with BMW experience based in Yateley, although I didn't meet him the wife was impressed with his professionalism. He charges £50 + VAT pr/hr, which I thought was not to bad.

:driving:

Unfortunatley I was not present when he carried out the work, but from what the missus told me I think so, seems like you have to split the switch assembly to access the contact pins inside, I don't think it could be that difficult, If I had known where to look in the first place I would have attempted it...
