Hi all

recommissioning after 7 years stood idle, whilst driving back from MOT garage, the steering felt strange, very twitchy, then the engine cut out, all warning lights came on. engine restarted and all yellow lights stayed on EML, Power steering etc. Pulled over and switched off. tried to restart but wouldnt start. Did a hard reset ( neg and pos connections touched) tried restarting and success it started. EML stayed on. rest of journey was fine, no issues with the power steering, any ideas

it will be better to plug it and diagnose then get the codes.
what engine is it and what have you done prior to mot

Exactly the same for me earlier this year... engine cut out for 1 sec which is scary then the dash lit up like a Christmas tree.. drove fine though until I started it later ... The eps was on all this time but only gave me no power steering on the restart... turned out to be the crank sensor!

Hi All
Thanks for the replies.
Not hooked up to diagnostic yet
I will check the battery and earth connections.
With regard to the crank sensor I will replace as a precautionary measure.
However where is it located?
Thanks again.

fitted new crank sensor (once I actually found it) it is totally covered by the inlet manifold. I ran diagnostic 14 errors, engine module, steering, body module etc. i took note of all codes and cleared them. reran diagnostic just 2 codes inlet air temperature and a code regarding window closing.
it failed the MOT on emissions too high, could this be something to do with inaccurate temp ?

Air intake temp is used in calculating air mass from the flow sensor. Fuelling is based on air mass so a duff temp reading will throw injection quantity and thus emissions.
