Hi, I think your getting mixed up between the actual valve cover (black ones incorporate the ccv as you say, silver ones do not) and the plastic cover which sits on top of the valve cover which doesn't signify anything![]()

that was my under standing, mines blck and yes if not used in a while in hot weather you get the ticking
