Engine cover black and silver interchangeable?

Anyone know if the engine covers on the 3.0 are interchangeable between the silver and black?
My silver one has different bolt holes to the black cover although the bolts seem to be just fake and dont actually hold it on it just pulls off and pushes on.
I prefer black so was thinking of changing mine.

I don't know if this helps, but I changed the colour of mine with spray cans from Halfrauds as follows:
1)Removed it
2)Took the badge off (very easy)
3)thoroughly cleaned and de-greased it with gunk, rinsed and dried
4)Found the correct width masking tape and covered the silver 'stripes'
5)Primed it with plastic primer
6)Painted the required colour (several thin coats)
7)Top coat of laquer
8)Refit badge and remove masking tape
9)Refit

Was easy and cheap and you can pick a different colour if you fancy it?

...they have different ecu’s thats for sure. The black cover indicates an integral ccv which is supposedly better than the external one on the silver top. But if they do go wrong I suppose it’s less serviceable. Whether it includes the updated head design to stop bleeding oil pressure out of the valve lifters is a bit unknown. Wikipedia says that mod wasn’t done as standard until Dec 2008.
