Can anyone tell me why the engine bay on a silver car is a light grey colour when all the other colours are colour coded??

Surely if they can colour code a Blue/Red/Black engine bay why don't they do it with silver?

I've also noticed it on other makes of car.

something to do with Laquer maybe?

mine's sterling and the curtain matches the carpet...

On all my previous cars the interior panels didnt have base paint and only primer... the strangest was a storm blue toyota (which looks blue in sunlight and black in shade) and it had a green boot and engine bay!

But the Sterling is laquered?????

Silver engine bay is not even Silver, its light grey.

The colour in the engine bay is different from the outside (titanium silver). As aquazi suggested, it is more primer colour.

The pain of the Z4 is not as good as older BMW's if you open the boot you will find it primer there also like under the bonnet, mine is black primer, but if you have a lighter colour then you will have a different colour primer.

It's normal, but just doenst look very nice.

Yeah, thats the thing i think lets the z4,etc down. the worst paint finish/detail in any car i have owned.
tho still love it :D
