End of Z4 ownership - possibly!

Hi all. Not been around for a while but watching!

Probably moving on from my nearly 2 years with my Z4 28i M. Still a years warranty and 3 years more service paid for and only 5500 miles! Broken ribs restricted me for 6 months. Recovery slow with age!

Will probably decide tomorrow. Moving to a SUV hopefully as my ageing arthritic bones are starting to complain about the hard ride and the contortions required to enter and exit so it has to go while it still has some value.

Not sure how much part ex will be offered and it may well be a better bet to pony up the deposit in cash and sell privately as the VW Tiguan I fancy has a £2750 deposit sweetener for the next 2 days so I need to move fast if I like it. The top spec R-line with all the trimmings I'm used to with the Z4 plus a load of added hi tech nonsense seems brilliant and fair poke with the 2 engines I fancy. Petrol 0-62 in 7.3 with DSG box and diesel 8.5. Nothing like that I know of for that sort of money. AMG's etc. would require Jack Straw type spare cash which I don't command.

Tiguan (not fond of the name but better than Yeti possibly) seems a cheap SUV (relatively) compared to similar specs. Better than anything in that price bracket I know of unless anyone can point me in a different direction. Since I have always had quick cars for 40 years I can't cope with anything sluggish. My body is stuffed but my reactions and brain are still in excellent working order. If only I could remember who I am or why I'm writing this, life would be perfect.

WBAC have offered a valuation in excess of what a few main dealers have offered so will see how it goes.

Good news for someone on here possibly? There is a Smart-Top module installed with latest firmware which will be removed and will be put up for sensible offers when I know what I'm doing.

Best wishes to all.

I tried we buy any car for my valuation too... And if you get a quote and leave it they do bump up the valuation... On my car i did it 3 times went from 6500 initially to 6750 in the end.

Took it to them and they do nit pick on minor marks... A wheel scuff was £100 off the valuation!

In the end i just px'd my car at the dealer purely for convenience...

If you are in no rush and can afford to run two cars then private sale in summer is the best option.

Unfortunately they couldn't find me a car with that I wanted so deal off. Still searching as not prepared to wait 3 months + for a factory order. despite being eventually offered a fairly decent package.

Interesting if dodgy sales ploy. Manager offered £17000 p/ex!!! All other valuations I had ranged from £19500 to £20700.
His explanation was that the deal offered of £3000 off blah! blah! blah! of course quite naturally affects the p/ex valuation which just so happened to be £3000 less than an acceptably sensible p/ex/. I commented that was b***ocks so he then phoned his oppo at BMW who came back with a valuation of £20000 now and £19000 in a months time!

Just to add insult to injury I couldn't show him my WBAC offer as it wouldn't recognise my reg despite the fact I had an offer less than a week ago with no fuss.

Looks like the Z4 will be around for a few weeks yet. Who knows the sun might come out and I might forget all about the hard ride etc.
