End of the Z4. E89 production finishing in August.

Just had the OK from the Fuhrer !
The plan is to trade in the old 2006 Disco 3 and the 2010 3.0l E89 and get a 35is
Her 335xd will need a set of winter wheels and tyres but i would say a result in the making

Now got to start planning the colours inside and out along with the must haves !

Great result. I did enquire about the August date, and the dealer didn't know for certain, or hadn't been formally notified, but did think it would be soon for last orders.

Be interesting to see what BMW come up with, a whole series of convertible models would be nice, including a big GT to rival the Merc SL.
Doubt we will be seeing anything anytime soon. Should make things interesting for E89 used values as the usual drop due to the fancy new model replacing it wont be there in the short term.

Another step forward!
I called into the dealer yesterday and did some outline figures and collected the glossy sales books. The fella was pushing for a sale as is his job, but our holiday in Germany starts soon and i don't want to be worrying about the car while we are away. It will have to wait until we are home again in September . However that will mean a December delivery which is not good.

Then there's the prices he offered to consider - still a way to go!

Is waiting till September not too late?

The sales fella didn't seem to think so - if it doesn't work out I'm not overly concerned at this Stage as a new one is nothing more than a whim and a fancy !

Did you do a broadspeed quote? That is showing a h-u-g-e discount as well (something like £12k or so).

I haven't yet - the discounts the fella talked about were only £6.5k
If broadspeed offer that level I could private sale my cars!

BMW dealer will accept the broadspeed quote and match it. Not related to trade in value either by the way.

I used it to buy the 140, no problems and way, way more than the dealer would offer voluntarily.

Just checked - standard discount is £11383 that the dealer should offer.

So no tasty offerings then Ronk, specced as is mine came to 54k last year and I got it for 40k matching broadspeed, going on what you're suggesting I'd do no better now right? It half crossed my mind to have a last hurrah on one of these and full spec it if they we're doing good discounts to a price I had in mind but no way if they're no better than last year.

The discount / incentive allowance they were offering was about £6.5 k

I specced a 35is to a total of £52100 with road tax (£650 first year) delivery etc
The would then want £24300 cash and my current cars from me.

I would very much like a 35is but I'm not going to donate my wallet to them

I had to have a snigger to myself when the fella said that the value of my current 3.0l would drop pre winter - his new car wouldn't of course :D

I doubt they'd be anywhere near as adventurous with styling as those renders.

Last e89 orders were taken in the first half of this year so I read. No further orders are now being accepted apparently.

Quick and totally off topic, I can't find your stereo thread Maniac or even if you're still interested, but I came across 'carelectronicsnottingham' site, they do CEN custom packs of different levels of upgrade, under seat subs and focal speaker upgrades, well worth a look.

Sorry, back as you we're all.

Can anyone categorically say there has been this end of production confirmed by BMW and not just rumoured from elsewhere?

As I've already said earlier in the thread I enquired when my car was in last month re ordering a new 35is and was told that there was no issues with ordering and they were quite happy to discuss and arrange test drives etc. nothing re plans to cease production. If it is true then it's not yet filtering through to the dealerships and if it was then they would be advising and pushing for people to order.

So Ron I can't see any issues waiting until your back from you annual trip. Now what colour are you fancying?

Edit - just reading the blog again they've updated to say that BMW have confirmed that production is stopping in August but it's still not been communicated to dealerships so it could be that dealerships are advised in August with orders stopping and production tailing off.

In my minds eye I see myself in a metallic red with oatmeal leather - but nothing is set in stone.

Current car is deep sea blue with black leather and I would have the same exterior colour again but I don't see it on the option list?

Broadspeed is your friend here, they will match it. Broadspeed works together with BMW so you will get a dealer call you as well as they spreadh the leads among dealers. So the £12k is a realistic value that will be matched by them.

The two main oversights with the E89 that I believe reduced sales, no diesel and the metal roof, thus no direct replacement

and also no M.
I think the 35is was seen as the M?

Did hear rumours of the hybrid technology in the i8 being used in the "new" Z4. Slight tweaks in the styling and that would be a car I would like to drive.

Absolutely Not.. The 'iS' range (Z4 35iS, 335iS) was simply an over boosted N54 car with a few extras like exhaust etc.

It's no M and went nowhere near BMWs M division. Despite BMW attempting to make a few quid by sticking M looking 'sport' badges all over the place.
