End of an era

After 14 years and 2 months of ownership, today the new owners of my Z4M coupe picked the car up and drove off back down to Farnham. That brings to an end 19 years of consecutive Z4 ownership for me and it probably means I’ll be on here even less now than I have been in recent years.

It’s been a brilliant car with many highs and only a few lows. The last few years it’s not really been used enough and two redundancies in the space of two years in 2020 and 2022 (after going the first 33 years of my career with none) meant that having a low-mileage Z4M in the garage was a luxury too far.

Hopefully in the future I’ll have something equally as interesting, enthralling and engaging as my weekend car in my garage again.

Happy Zedding folks!!

Do you have any pics of your now ex car? What was the mileage?

I have many pics but I can’t remember how to put them on here so I’ll need to refresh memory.

The car had 47,012 miles on the clock when it left here at lunchtime.

I know what you mean about it being a big part of life as I have had my first Z in 2004, and still have one now (with a gap between number 2 and 3).

You could always pick up a cheap E85 though to still have a toy, but not such an expensive one.

Also, Hotel California

Do you not wish your drove it more? All that time with very little miles behind the wheel?
Seems a waste to keep the mileage low for the next owner.

Sad Steve but also life’s for living and experiencing as much as you can! Looking forward to seeing what’s next!

14 years of ownership, that’s impressive, sounds like great memories along the way too.
All the best for your next chapter….

That must have been a sad moment watching it being driven away.

I'm sure I'll be gutted if I ever have to part with my MC even though I'm only in my 5th year with it.

Farnham isn't too far from me so maybe I'll see it about sometime!

No not at all. It’s been a weekend car for 12 of those years.

Thanks Tom. You’ve been in Zeds for as long as me I suspect? I’m selling the other car as well (a Countryman Cooper S All4) and I’ve bought a 23-reg M135i X-Drive. Had it for 3 months now and love it. It’s a brilliant daily and properly rapid too.

It was pretty sad Mr Tidy.

I couldn’t have sold it to a nicer couple though. It’s definitely gone to a good home where it will be cherished.

I don’t know whether you remember but you and I parked next to one another and had a good chat at Sommerfest at Donington a couple of years ago

Thanks Paul. Maybe I should get a project car!

Still got aspirations for something from Hethel to replace it in a few years. Whilst I can still clamber in and out of them!

I do remember your stunning Carbon Black MC, but I must have forgotten your user name.

It was a great day out although I did get sunburnt. Still I managed to get a parade lap right at the back of a group. :D

Wow that is low mileage considering the number of years you owned the car, reminds me I must get mine out.

Totally understand OG, im adding a new car to the stable soon but im decided to keep the fleet growing! but soon ill have to start thinning the herd after Ive made my mind up on where i want to go, interesting 24 months ahead for my motoring path.....

Had my first one from 2011 to 2014 then had a 987 Boxster S and a 996 4S then bought another M in 2019. I missed the Z and the roadsters offer such incredible value for money! After both Porsches being verts I was converted. Don’t plan on keeping the Z a lot longer fancy something a bit more exotic but we will see!

The 135 is a fab car 👌🏻

Sorry to see you've sold this Steve.
Was great to meet you on the early National meets back when I started them.

That was a great looking car,and have rarely seen a Midnight Blue M Coupe since, and not as nice and yours mate.
Good luck with whatever you're doing now,and whatever the z replacement will be in future.

A lovely Z MC and equally nice owner, all the best 👍
