Emmisions light

Emmisions light came on today after refueling at Esso garage never had any problems before any ideas on the causes or if there are any quick fixes.

Mine has come on a few times - each time after refuelling at Esso! Usually goes off again after a few miles and then stays off. I put it down to a change in fuel - I usually use supermarket fuel with no problems! Don't worry about it unless is stays on, in which case it's probably a faulty sensor.

Please read my post in February, my wife told me the emissions light was on and I said probably just the sensor but she won't drive with a warning light so she got the dealers to collect it and check it out, turned out to be a timing chain problem, still don't know all the details as not due home until mid May, surprised as 3.0 SI with only 62,000 miles.

Could be anything, code needs reading first. This light is very sensitive on the Zeds and is a well-documented issue and the 'search function' on this forum will attest.

Ok thanks guys, the car is à 2.5 se 04 reg ,checked all pipes for splits etc all ok ,no rough tickover or lumpy running , just put some shell v power in will see what happens in next couple of days and if light stays on I will get code read.

Right after checking pipes again found a split in a hose that comes off the main pipe from the air filter ,are these a main dealer part or can you buy them from motor factors.looks like its only held in place by four clips.

If it's the same one I had split was about 20 quid but you'll have to get it reset and make sure that's the only fault

Did you get the part from dealer ? Had not noticed a whistle yesterday but did hear one this morning.
Just from a local parts store mate (my dads a mechanic and got it for me)

Managed to get replacement pipe from stealers should be here tommorrow,£20 plus vat, tried all motor factors and some internet BMW parts stockists but all said main dealer.

Light reset today , fault reader said both banks running lean ,but the mechanic who reset said this was due to split pipe , so fingers crossed all good .
