AA Patrol diagnosed and gave me the following report.

Error codes: 2A67, 2A6B

Faultcode/s:System : Engine control 1 - 3D1 / Motronic MEV 9.2 Status :2A67 - Valve lift control. Error Message : Actuation faulty. Error present. Status :2A6B - Engine power limitation. Error Message : Component/function active. Error present.Patrol tested or actuated the following component/s:Inlet camsh. cntrl. sol. valvePatrol carried out the following special function/s:Adjustments / settingsWe have arranged for a recovery of your vehicle.Check fault codesFound valve lift control faultyCannot hear inlet or exhaust solenoid operatingCheck live data found exhaust cam actual 120 degrees vs required of 52 degreesSuspect exhaust timing solenoid faultEngine Oil Level Ok. Coolant Level Ok.



Who can you repair it? I live in Norwich ready to travel..
 
Hi, what engine do you have in your car?
If it is a solenoid change it should be fairly straight forward.

Timing chain, Valvetronic and solenoid valves and camshaft exhaust sensor are recently changed..
OK, well I'll admit to no experience at all with the 2.0 engine.
Hopefully someone like [ref]tug[/ref] can offer more advice on that engine.
I would be happy to help fix it if I can though.

I find it odd that all that work was done and now the AA say the solenoids aren't working and the exhaust cam is so far out.
Almost sounds as though it wasn't put back together properly?

Just bumping this back up to the top in the hope a 4-pot expert can offer me some advice.
I have provisionally said I will take on this job if it is indeed the VVT Servo. The codes I got seem to suggest this.
I have never worked on a 2.0 before and have no knowledge of the engine.
I have watched a few videos but some of those aren't too clear.

So I have a few questions:
1. Is it simply a bolt off, bolt on job?
2. Apart from the obvious gaskets etc, is there anything else I should be replacing while I'm in there?
3. Are any special tools needed?
4. Do the cams have to be aligned in any way before the new servo is engaged?
5. Anything else I've not thought of?

Rather than mess up someone else's car, but knowing I have a fair degree of mechanical experience, I would appreciate an honest warning if you consider it a job a garage should take on.
