Eml code p0101 strange symptoms

Hey,
Just looking for a bit of advice as to what this problem could be.
During the first 5 minutes of driving I get an eml with the p0101 code (there has been one time p0103 also popped up). If I then pull up and reset the code I don't get any errors until the car has sat and cooled down. Meaning I can drive for hours after the initial error without it triggering again. This includes stopping off at places and leaving the car for up to 20-30mins after the car is at temp.

The only symptoms I seem to have is a slight surge of power just before the eml triggers. The car drives exactly as it did before as soon as the light comes on.

I've just done a 100k overhaul. So had a new disa, maf, ccv, rad, stat, wp, expansion tank, coolant. Did a smoke test to see if I needed any pipes. In the hopes this would stop the problem but it's still there.
So I'm now lost as to what it could be.
 
Those codes relates to the Maf, I note that you have already replaced the Maf, what brand did you replace it with, pattern parts are rarely good or up to the job. Oem Bosch or Seimens are the ones to go for.
 
It's a 2003 z4 so the M54 2.5i.
And ill be honest, I'm not sure what brand the maf was. I know it wasn't oem but prior to me changing the maf it was going into limp mode whenever I went over 3000rpm as my old one was knackered. So it did make vast improvement.
 
You probably need to eliminate the maf with that code one way or another. Vanos solenoids another possibility perhaps.
