Emissions Warning Light - I am a plank!

Hi,

Just thought I would post my story incase anyone else happens to be as stupid as me!

10 days ago my emissions light came on and the car was revving below 1k\revs when stationary. I thought it may have been an after effect somehow related to the snow and cold over xmas. I had also refilled the oil about 3 weeks ago but didn't think anything of it. I took it into the Stealer today as it is under warranty, and they just phoned to say the issue was due to the Oil Cap not being on correctly, and after diagnosis they are charging £39 for effectively tightening the Oil Cap! Nice. Could have been worse though, I was expecting £100 excess or worse!

Not the best way of spending £40! The oil service is also due in 500 miles so they are going to do that as well so I will probably lose the new oil I put in on top of that! :headbang:

Not a good day!

Nick

Cheers for the info Nickyg, pity you had to get stung by the Stealer !

Your post is the type that makes this forum as good as it is though, so

I am amazed that triggers the emission light though as that is generally at the "back end" of the engine.

Mine came on today. Are you talking the engine shaped light on hte right display in orange?

I'll check the oil cap as I was under the hood doing the window wiper mod/clean. Maybe I dislodged something. Although it was fine all week, until this morning.

Had the same thing to in the summer. Filled up with oil and thought I had put cap on, but eml light came on and when I checked oil cap was missing. Stealer charged me £80 to hook up to computer and reset. :headbang:
