Emissions Light - Can anyone help please ?

Hi Everyone, I have a 2.0i M Sport which has covered just 21,000 miles. When purchased (3 months ago) the Emissions Light came on but was immediately reset, this was explained as the car has sat for 4 weeks on a forecourt. Since then, I have used the car every day and maintained a very reasonable 37mpg so I drive quite carefully. Yesterday, the Emissions light came back on whilst driving around in the sunshine and I have no idea why. The engine is running very clean and sweet, therefore does anyone have any idea why it has come on, is this a common problem and does anyone have any idea how I can reset without any having open wallet surgery from the Stealship ?

Mine came on last weekend, no effect on performance but it will probably need a new O2 sensor.
 
Can you tell me how much it costs ? Funny thing is, took car out for a good run yesterday (just to blow out the cobwebs of course) and the damn light has now gone out !
 
Had it done under warranty so no idea on cost, I tried to make mine go out but nothing worked.
